Welcome to the website of the Berkeley Linguistics Society (BLS), the second oldest graduate student-run linguistics society in the United States. The primary purpose of the Berkeley Linguistics Society is to organize a conference, the Annual Meeting, held every year since 1975.

BLS40 is pleased to announce that the plenary speaker for the parasession Language, Inequality, and Globalization will be Kira Hall, Associate Professor of Linguistics and Anthropology at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

The 40th Annual Meeting of the Berkeley Linguistics Society will take place at the University of California, Berkeley from February 7-9, 2014. A call for papers and further details will be announced in early September.
