Transportation to Berkeley
From San Francisco Int'l Airport (SFO)
- 1. Taxi: Fare approximately $90.
- 2. Shuttle Service:
- For shuttles we recommend making a reservation at least 48 hours in advance. Rides can be reserved online or over the phone.
- Bayporter Express Shuttle: Goes directly from San Francisco (SFO) to Berkeley for $32 (shared ride). Call 877-467-1800 at the airport to get a van to Berkeley.
- Super Shuttle: From SFO to Berkeley for $35 (shared ride). Call 415-558-8500 for a van.
- 3. Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART): You can take BART directly from SFO to the Downtown Berkeley station. Take a Pittsburg-Bay Point-bound (yellow line) train from SFO and transfer to the Richmond-bound (red line) train across the platform at the 19th St/Oakland station.
BART runs on weekdays from 4 AM to midnight, on Saturday from 6 AM to midnight, and on Sunday from 8 AM to midnight. The Berkeley campus is located 1 block east of the Downtown Berkeley BART station (see the map).
Fare from SFO is $8.65.
From Oakland Airport (OAK)
- 1. Taxi: Fare approximately $40.
- 2. Shuttle Service:
- For shuttles we recommend making a ride reservation at least 48 hours in advance. Rides can be reserved online or over the phone.
- Bayporter Express: Goes directly between Oakland Airport (OAK) and Berkeley. Call 877-467-1800 at the airport to get a van to Berkeley. The fare is $25 (shared ride).
- SuperShuttle: Goes directly between OAK and Berkeley for $29 (shared ride). Call 415-558-8500 for a van.
- 3. Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART): Take the AirBART shuttle from the Oakland airport to the Coliseum/Oakland Airport BART station. The AirBART stop is located between Terminal 1 and 2 on the second curb. You must have $3.00 in exact change to board AirBART, or purchase a ticket from the machines (they accept credit cards) at the AirBART stop. There is a change machine available in the baggage claim area of Terminal 2 on the right near a red Bank of America ATM.
At the Coliseum/Oakland Airport station, take a Richmond-bound (red line) train and disembark at the Downtown Berkeley station.

By Car
From I-80/580 take the second Berkeley exit at University Avenue and head eastward (away from the bay and Marina). Continue east on University Avenue for about 2 miles, then turn right onto Shattuck Avenue. Go 7 blocks and turn left onto Channing Way.
There are several commercial parking garages in the area about 3 to 5 blocks uphill:
1) on Bowditch Street on the south side of Bancroft;
2) on Bancroft between Telegraph Ave and Dana Street (next to the Student Union); and
3) on Channing Way or Durant Ave between Dana and Telegraph Ave.
