The Arapaho Language: Documentation and Revitalization
Project description
Project goals
Documentation:
- Produce an analytical dictionary and text concordance that will contain grammatical information, text references, examples from texts and usage information.
- Incorporate diverse linguistic varieties into the Arapaho 'canon' of audio and written texts, and especially increase the documentation of women's speech.
- Contribute to comprehensive grammatical description of Arapaho.
- Contribute to the historical and comparative study of the Algic languages, including inferences about the early history of Algic peoples.
Revitalization:
- Distribute an audio dictionary that will be helpful to learners of Arapaho.
- Assist master-apprentice teams.
- Assist in the creation of Arapaho language teaching materials, including audio recordings.
