Our home in Mill Valley, California

Since 1993 this house has been a part of my family. Every room has its own history, full of memories for me, and reflects our life in a unique way. The house is painted and decorated in a very personal way, from the Irish Ogham and Maya glyphs in Erin's play room, to the redwood trees with our initials in the upstairs bathroom, our family tree in the entrance, the bright colors and Mesoamerican designs elsewhere, and even my name scrawled above the kitchen door. We've made the house just the way we want it for ourselves. However, these days we spend most of our time away from home, in Mexico, Australia, and elsewhere, so if you are looking for a Bay Area place to rent for a week or a few months, drop me a line. Whether you're looking for a place to stay, or just curious to meet this member of my family, have a look below.

Although this house is surrounded by a tranquil redwood forest it is actually in the heart of downtown Mill Valley, a five minute walk to shops, a movie theater, bakery, restaurants, parks, banks, public transportation, groceries and other services. Mill Valley is a charming town at the foot of Mount Tamalpais. Muir Woods is 5 miles away. You are 10 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco, and 30 miles from the Wine Country of Sonoma & Napa.

Outside, the house is a quintessential Mill Valley Cottage, brown shingles and built in 1904. Inside it is a brightly painted Mexican-style home.

There is parking for up to three cars.

A charming entrance takes you from the carport down to the house.

There are two redwood decks, one at the front door and the other just off of the kitchen, where you can eat meals during warm weather. The house consists of three stories. On the top level is the entrance, three bedrooms and one bathroom. On the middle floor are the living room, a sun room, the dining room and kitchen. The floor in the dining area and kitchen is paved with saltillo tiles from Mexico. The rest of the house has painted or parquet wooden floors. The bottom floor consists of an office and a large bathroom. This bathroom has a spa tub, stained glass windows, and a futon for lounging or sleeping guests.
