We will be meeting at Hannah Haynie's house at 5:30 pm to plan for the rest of the semester and to discuss Judith Tonhauser's 2007 article "Nominal tense? The meaning of Guaraní nominal temporal markers" (Language 83:831-869). Bring snacks, drinks, and suggestions for readings.

We will be meeting at Jupiter's. Our reading is Chris Barker's (1998) paper "Episodic '-ee' in English: A thematic role constraint on new word formation" (Language 74:695-727).

23 september
We will be reading Judith Aissen's (1999) paper "Agent Focus and Inverse in Tzotzil" (Language 75:451-485) and meeting at Cafe Muse.

30 september
We will discuss Emily M. Bender and Andreas Kathol's 2003 paper "Constructional effects of just because...doesn't mean..." (BLS 27: 13-25). We will be meeting at Jupiter's.

7 october
We will be meeting at Cafe Muse, and will be discussing Peter Lasersohn's 1999 article "Pragmatic halos" (Language 75: 522-551).

14 october
We will talk about Fodor and Sag's 1982 paper "Referential and quantificational indefinites" (Linguistics and Philosophy 5:355-398) at Cafe Muse.

21 october
We will be meeting at La Note and discussing Kay and Michaelis' chapter "Constructional meaning and compositionality" that is to appear in Semantics: An international handbook of natural language meaning.

28 october
We will be meeting at La Note (since we didn't get to last time) to discuss Dowty's 1991 paper "Thematic Proto-Roles and argument selection" (Language 67:547-619).

4 november
We will meet at Cafe Muse to discuss Ed Keenan's forthcoming article in NLLT "Voice and relativization without movement in Malagasy."

11 november
We didn't meet this week.

18 november
We will be reading Paul Kay and Chuck Fillmore's classic 1999 paper "Grammatical constructions and linguistic generalizations: The What's X doing Y? construction" (Language 75:1-33).

25 november
We didn't meet this week because of Thanksgiving.

For our last meeting of the semester (at Jupiter's), we will be discussing Chapters 2 and 3 of David Adger et al.'s manuscript book Mirrors and Microparameters: Phrase Structure beyond Free Word Order.
