Lab scheduling
The Phonology Lab uses a shared Google calendar for reserving Lab resources. This system is fairly informal and intended to be collegial, so please be considerate of others when resolving conflicts.
Use the online calendar for scheduling subjects in rooms 52A, 52B, and 52C. Please use this calendar anytime you need to reserve the Marantz PMD670 solid state recorder in a production task (52A or 52B), the aerodynamics/physiology equipment in 52C, or the computers in 52B for a perception task.
The calendar has a public URL at
http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=labphono%40gmail.com
- See* CalendarUse *for details*.
The public URL can aid potential research subjects in picking an open time slot. You should never put confidential information into the calendar, such as subject names or contact emails. Please put the room in the title of the event that you are reserving, to aid in scheduling.
To schedule a subject, simply click on “Add Event” and fill in the pertinent information. The first thing that you put in the title of the event should be the room that you will need 52A (acoustic recording), 52C (physiology recording), or 52B (speech perception), followed by your name. You should avoid putting subject names in the calendar, as this is generally not a good way to preserve confidentiality.
The lab's Subject Scheduling Database (http://linguistics.berkeley.edu/phonlab/experiments/) is a tool that you can use to have your subjects schedule themselves for your experiment. You add an experiment to the list, and specify your available times to run subjects and then you can tell participants to "please visit the experiments" web page to choose a time. This is most helpful when you need to schedule a lot of people. The database software will send an e-mail message the day before the experiment both to the subject and to you.
