Fleck transcribes Matsés' two back vowels as /u/ and /o/, but he describes them as “unrounded, and therefore more accurately transcribed using the IPA [ɯ] and [ɤ]” (72). Therefore, we have chosen to represent them as /ɯ/ and /ɤ/.
