Stress

In Sereer, stress is assigned to the left-most long vowel of a word. When no long vowels are present, stress is assigned to the left-most stem syllable.

  • a.ˈsu.ma 'be hot'
  • a.ɓo.ˈgoo.xa 'wash (refl.)'
