I grew up in Wisconsin with my siblings, who are now spread across the northern US. I studied at the University of Minnesota before moving to Berkeley for my PhD. I was an Assistant Professor at Georgetown University from 2017-2020, and became a Berkeley faculty member in January 2021.
I spend my summers in West Africa, where I carry out linguistic fieldwork, primarily in Gnagbodgougnoa, Côte d'Ivoire documenting Guébie (Kru). I have also spent time in Nigeria and Benin where I participated in the African Linguistics School, first as a student and later as a professor.
Outside of linguistics, I enjoy hiking, running, bouldering, and climbing. I also enjoy spending time with friends, gluten free baking, and playing board games.
