[1] peekxaréeyav vúra uum kunikyâanik.
The gods made it.

[2] fatavéenaan kuníkyav.
They made a priest.

[3] kári xás púyava máruk tuvâaram ahíram.
And so he went uphill to the fireplaces.

[4] kári xás tá koo, tóo píinmar.
And then that was all, he ended the world-renewal.

[5] púyava yáanchiip vúra uum koovúra tá kunkúhinaa.
Then the next year everybody was sick.

[6] tá kunfíipha vúra pa'áraaras.
The people died off.


[7] kári xás púyava " kúkuum peekxariya'áraar chí kamikrîish."
And so (the gods thought) "Let the priest take office (lit., sit down) again!"

[8] kári xás kunpiip, " hûut pánukupheesh."
And they said, "How shall we do?"

[9] kári xás kunpiip, " man'áta."
And they said, "I don't know."

[10] xás kunpiip, " xâatik payêem ikyávaan ka'íru."
And they said, "Let there be priestesses too, this time."

[11] " chémi."
"All right."

[12] " káru imúsaan, káru koopitxaaríhvaan káru kixáhaan."
"And an assistant priest, and priest's companions, and brush-burners.

[13] " chémi."
"All right."


[14] kári xás ta'ítam ukûurishriheen.
So then he took office.

[15] xás kun'ir.
And they celebrated the world-renewal.

[16] púyava koovúra tá kun'áraarahitih, kixáhaan káru vúra imúsaan, káru ikyávaan, káru koopitxaaríhvaan.
And they were all (there), brush-burners and assistant priest, and priestesses, and priest's companions.

[17] púyava chavúra tá kunpíinmar.
So finally they ended the world-renewal.


[18] xás kári púyava yáanchiip kúkuum vaa tá kári.
And then the next year (they did it) again the same way.

[19] púyava koovúra uum púxay vúra yíthaxay kuhítihara pa'áraaras, koovúra vúra yav, púxay axvahkánxay.
And none of all the people was sick, they were all well, they weren't sick.

[20] kári xás kunpiip, " vaa páy hínupa uum pookupítiheesh."
And they said, "That's the way (Mankind) will do it."

[21] kári xás kunpiip, " víri vaa yáas tá nupíkyaar.
And they said, "We have just finished.

[22] payaas'ára u'iiníshrihaak víri vaa pakunkupítiheesh.
When Mankind comes into existence, they will do like that.

[23] púxay vúraxay yaas'ára axvahkánxayheeshara."
Mankind will not be sick.

[24] púyava vúra koomahich.
So that's all.
