Getting to UC Berkeley

Consult the BLS website or the UC Berkeley website.

Getting to the workshop

The workshop will be held in the conference center of the Clark Kerr Campus of UC Berkeley. And participants will stay in rooms at the conference center, and we will eat together there.

It is possible to walk to the conference center from the Downtown Berkeley BART station (1.4 miles - through campus or along Bancroft Ave) or take a bus (#49 is the most direct route) or a cab. Parking ($16/day) is also provided at the conference center.

Local participants

Members of the linguistic community in Berkeley and the San Francisco Bay Area can purchase a meal package for $111 (for nine meals). Join the conference for any breakfast ($10.75), lunch ($12.75) or dinner ($15.00). Please contact us right away to buy a meal package, meal tickets for individual meals, or to get a parking permit if you need one. The email address is: soundchange@berkeley.edu

Poster sessions

Pins and boards will be provided. Poster size: 228 cm wide by 106 cm tall (90" x 42"). Please use large fonts - readable from at least two feet away from the poster. If you don't want to carry a poster tube around the world, you may choose instead to print the poster locally. We have found FedEx Kinkos to be a reliable poster printer. Our local branch is located at 2201 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley.

Lecture sessions

LCD projector and audio system will be provided. Let us know if you want to borrow a computer.

Pool, Track, and Fitness Center

Let us know if you want to use the pool (outdoor - big, 50 meter?). It costs $30/day for a recreation pass - which we add to your housing bill. The onsite track and fitness center are free. The fitness center is in Building 12. The track is up the hill and may require GPS to find it, but on your way you may get lost and end up taking a hike in a Eucalyptus grove.
