[1] pananichishíh'anamahach itháan káruk nu'ípasroovat, káan úkrii chishih'aneekyáavaan.
Once we took my little dog upriver, there was a veterinarian there.

[2] xás úpiip" uum vúra páy chu'íveesh.
And he said, "This one is going to die.

[3] xâatik vúra nu kviit-hívath."
"Let's just put him to sleep."

[4] xás nipiip, puu, xâatik vúra nipípas.
And I said, "No, let me just take him home.

[5] xâatik vúra, uum, vúra hárivari u'ívahaak.
"Just let him be, whenever he may die.

[6] naa vúra pu naxútihan, kíri kunikviit-hívath.
I just didn't want them to put him to sleep.

[7] xás káruk vúra... itíhaan vúra ithéekxaram xúus ni'éethti.
And upriver ... I was taking care of him all night.

[8] táníkfuuksip, táni'áki, aas tá ni'akih.
I'd get up, I'd feed him, I'd give him water.

[9] chavúra u'aráriihkanha.
Finally he recovered.

[10] uum tákunpiip, pamúaasravarak íshaha, sú' aasrávar.
People said, "He's got water on his brain, inside the brain."

[11] káru hôoy akâayva 'îin kun kêemish kun'ákihanik, kéemish u'ávanik.
"And somewhere, someone, they ... they fed him poison, he ate poison."

[12] xás nipíti" pûuhara."
And I kept saying no."

[13] xás kanéepeenti, " pamichíshiih mít uum êen úkuuyvanik.
And they were telling me, "A board fell on your dog.

[14] vaa kumá'ii paxáas tu'iv, pu'uum vúra fâat kumakêemish áamtihan."
"That's why he almost died, he didn’t eat any kind of poison."

[15] xás payêem uum vúra tu'aráriihkanha, puhúun vúra íinatihan.
And now he's well, there's nothing wrong with him.

[16] káruma káru taay u'ôorahiti pa'ánav patá níkvar, pani'ákihti.
And in fact it cost a lot, the medicine that I bought, that I was giving him.

[17] payêem puhúun íinatihan.
Now there’s nothing wrong with him.
