[1] manâa naa mít káru nîinamich itíhaan áhup nukyâati, pananitípa xákaan, áhup núkpaakti.

Well, also when I was little, we were always gathering wood, my brother and I, we were chopping wood.

[2] nuvuxichshúroo-- nuvuxichshiipriv, vuxich[ar]-- bucksaw muuk nuvuxichvúxich.

We sawed it down– [correction] sawed it up, we sawed it up with a saw– with a bucksaw.

[3] Kúkuum

Again we– uphill we– we chopped them down, we stripped little trees.

[4] ta'ítam sáruk tanuthyúrufak.

Then we dragged them downhill.

[5] sâam xás tanupvupákpak.

Downhill, then we split them.

[6] kúkuum vúra tanupipêer, itíhaan vaa vúra áhup nukyâati.

Again we told each other, “We’re always gathering wood.”

[7] ayu’âach púfaat pa'ávansa iináak, panini'ákah uum támit u'ívat.

It was because there was no man in the house, my father had died.

[8] víri vaa kumá'ii pa'itíhaan nuu xás nukyáviichvuti aa-- íshaha káru núktaamti.

That’s why we always had to work then ah–we also carried water.

[9] ishkêeshak tanutárivrip, máruk tanukvíripraa.

We dipped it up at the river (for laundry), we ran uphill.

[10] mama had three tubs, tanu-- axyár tanúkyav, poopithxáheesh (...)

Mama had three tubs, we- we filled them, when she was going to do the wash.

[11] vúra itíhaan panukyáviichvuti.

We were always working.

[12] áhup káru nu'akaafúrukvuti.

We were also carrying wood into the house in our arms.
