MAB59-60: "Fruit are eaten, the seeds are picked after the pericarp has rotted off, but birds usually eat them first. They can be gathered and buried until the shells rot off. Once the shells were removed, the seeds were baked in the sand with a fire made above. It is also a medicinal plant. The leaves are burned in the house to take bad luck away or the smoke waved over people as they leave for the same reason. IT was put under the bed to rid it of fleas."
