A long time ago there was a big brush dance going on. -
Kwe-see kue kee-tee 'ue-mer-werch 'ee-kee too'm nue hlke-gor.
When the dance was winding up, a lot of people came to watch. -
Kwe-see kue lo-cho'm 'o ge's, Nek kem kue hlkyor-kwek'.
So the toad said, Well I'm going to go look on too. -
Kue ne-ge-neech tue' kem wee' 'o ge-gok'w, ko-lo-nee wee' nee-nee hak'ws.
The mouse, he was there too, and he was kind of laughing to himself, kind of giggling around to himself. -
Ko-lo-nee hak'ws 'we-sek', Kwel mer-mer-yer-werk', Nek kem kee hlkyor-kwek'.
He was kind of laughing and thinking, I'm good looking, I'm going to look on. -
Kwe-see keech 'e-la skuykep' kue lo-cho'm noohl 'o gee' kue ne-ge-neech, Ney, kues
cho' soo ne-wo-yek'?
So the toad dressed himself, and then he said to the mouse, Dear, how do I look? -
Kues cho' soo ne-wo-yek'?
How do I look? -
Kwe-see 'o ge'm kue ne-ge-neech, 'Iyoh, ke'l kwe-lekw ko-lo-kween ... keech ko'-see
swekt-ke-loo'-wey-ye'm.
Then the mouse said, Oh ... you are covered with warts all over. -
Kwe-see 'o te'-no'y kue lo-cho'm.
The toad was annoyed at this. -
Te'-no'y kue lo-cho'm, wok 'ee so chyuuek'-we'n
The toad was offended so he just went to sit down over in the corner somewhere. -
Kwe-see wee' nee-nee noo's kue ne-ge-neech.
Of course that mouse was just kind of laughing around. -

After the mouse got through combing, he jumped in front of the frog, and said, How do I look? Am I pretty now? -
Kwe-see ge'm kue lo-cho'm, Nek soo ke'l he-se'm, Mer-mer-yer-werk'.
Then the toad said, I think that you think, I'm pretty. -
Nek he-sek' chpee-wee 'ue-kwe-re'-wey-yek' 'oohl 'o k'ee we'y 'ue'-wes-'o-new.
But I think you are the sharpest faced person under these heavens.
