The sweating doctor used plants and sometimes plant roots.

[2] púyava    xás    u-'uhyanakôo-ti    pa-pírish   
you.see    then    3s(>3)-pray.over-DUR    the-plant   
And he talked to the plants.

[3] púyava    xás    ásip-ak    t-u-máhyaan   
you.see    then    bowl-Locative    PERF-3s(>3)-put.in   
Then he put them in a bowl-basket.

[4] xás    íshaha    t-óo    yvaayramnih

And he poured in water.

Then he put in hot stones.

Then he set them down underneath the sick person.

And they covered (the patient) with a blanket.

[9] púyava    pa-t-u-kôo-haak    púyava    kári    pa-'ánav    îim        kun-p-iyvêesh   
you.see    NOMZ-PERF-3s(>3)-stop-when    you.see    then    the-medicine    outdoors    PERF    3pl(>3s)-ITER-pour.out   
When he was finished, they poured the medicine on the ground, outdoors.

[10] káru    hâari    t-u-'ísh    káakum    pa-'ánav   
also    sometime    PERF-3s(>3)-drink    some    the-medicine   
And sometimes (the patient) drank some of the medicine.

[11] púyava    páy    uum    pa-pirish-'ánav    kun-kupee-kyâa-hi-tih   
you.see    this    3.SG    the-plant-medicine    3pl(>3s)-MODAL-make-Modal-DUR   
That’s how they made plant medicine.

[12] xás    pa-'aneekyávaan    vúra    kúnish    ikxaréeyav   
then    the-doctor    Intensive    sort.of    spirit.person   
And the doctor was kind of (like) an ikxaréeyav.
